Numerical Computation of Transonic Flows with Shock Waves∗
Some recent developments in numerical methods for calcuting solutions to the transonic potential flow equation are reviewed, including (1) the construction of stable coordinate independent difference schemes; (2) the use of conservatiation form to insure proper shock jump conditions; (3) analysis of the relaxation method by the time dependent analogy; (4) accelerated iterative schemes.
متن کاملAn adaptive grid method for two-dimensional viscous flows
This paper extends the gas-kinetic BGK-NS scheme to an adaptive grid for the viscous flow simulations. The grid movement and adaptation is controlled by a monitor function which may depend on velocity gradient or other flow variables, such as density or pressure. For the viscous flow computation, the use of adaptive mesh much improves the efficiency and accuracy of the method in comparison with...
متن کاملParallel Computation of Viscous Flows
In this study we describe parallel iterative and direct solution strategies for viscous flow computation using domain decomposition. Both stream function vorticity and primitive variable formulations are considered. The basic ideas associated with the element-by-element approach and subdomain approach can also be extended to other cell or control-volume approximate formulations. Numerical resul...
متن کاملA Bicharacteristic Scheme for the Numerical Computation of Two-Dimensional Converging Shock Waves
A 2d unsteady bicharacteristic scheme with shock fitting is presented and its characteristic step, shock point step and boundary step are described. The bicharacteristic scheme is compared with an UNO scheme and the Moretti scheme. Its capabilities are illustrated by computing a converging, deformed shock wave.
متن کاملExperimental study and numerical simulation of three dimensional two phase impinging jet flow using anisotropic turbulence model
Hydrodynamic of a turbulent impinging jet on a flat plate has been studied experimentally and numerically. Experiments were conducted for the Reynolds number range of 72000 to 102000 and a fixed jet-to-plate dimensionless distance of H/d=3.5. Based on the experimental setup, a multi-phase numerical model was simulated to predict flow properties of impinging jets using two turbulent models. Mesh...
